The reference dataset for place names, in 22 languages.
Every city, region, and country, translated, transliterated, and scored for confidence. Query it live or license the whole thing.
{ "city": "Kyoto", "translations": { "jpn": { "toponym": "京都", "script": "Jpan", "confidence": 1.0 }, "ara": { "toponym": "كيوتو", "script": "Arab", "confidence": 0.9 }, "hin": { "toponym": "क्योटो", "script": "Deva", "confidence": 0.9 } }, "admin_hierarchy": ["Kyoto", "Kyoto Pref.", "Japan"], "confidence_avg": 0.95 }

A confidence score on every translation
Seven tiers, from officially recognized exonyms down to best-effort transliterations, so you know exactly what you’re shipping, and can filter by threshold.
Scores are derived by cross-referencing multiple independent geographic and linguistic sources rather than a single authority. We reconcile disagreements between them and report the gaps as lower confidence instead of silently picking one.
